About Avatar Arena

Avatar Arena

Avatar Arena was an online game published by Nickelodeon, the company that produced the Avatar: The Last Airbender show; and its subsequent spinoff series, comics and graphic novels. The game can be classified under the game genre of Rumble. It is available on the internet platform as an online game.

Avatar Arena’s Objective

As seen from the game itself, Avatar Arena’s objective is thus:

“Decades prior to the Great War, all four nations were living in harmony under Avatar Kyoshi’s watch. In a competitive spirit, the best bending masters from all four nations gathered in a unique tournament. A tournament that would forever be remembered. Under Kyoshi’s watchful eye, all masters bent it out until the 20 best were remaining. Whoever would win against such opponents would not only win fortune, but eternal remembrance as well.”

Avatar Arena Instructions

Before you begin the game, you are expected to choose an avatar from one of the four nations. You will also choose the name and look of the character. After this, there are two modes that you can choose to play in; either “Training” or “Tournament”.

As seen in the previous section above, there are three types of moves you can choose to perform; attack, defense, and chi attack. Both attack and defense moves have three different levels of complexity. The higher the level you use, the more damage or defense you can deal.

The chi attack on its own, takes a long time to charge up. However, it is a very powerful move to perform when it is used successfully. All four nations differ only in the appearance of the character and their attacks; in reality a specific attack provides the same effect for any nation, with the only difference being the aesthetic.

Game-play

Avatar Arena: Training Mode

The Training mode allows the player to practice and hone their skills before they enter the battle.

In the “Training” mode of the game, the player is set with the task of destroying a large statue as quickly as possible. There is no potential for any damage to the player’s health, as no enemy exists.

Avatar Arena Tournament Mode

In the “Tournament” mode, the player faces the twenty masters, all of whom are the twenty highest scorers in the game. The player must defeat the opponent in a best-of-three match to advance through the tournament; he or she scores more points for defeating the opponent more quickly. Of course, the opponents increase in difficulty as the player advances through the game.

At the end of each match (if won), the time taken to defeat the opponent is shown, as well as the points gained and total points scored. To win in the “Tournament” mode, the player must defeat all twenty opponents. This does not, however, guarantee them a spot as one of the twenty “masters”; they must score high enough to place in the top twenty high scorers.

Avatar Arena Tournament Locations

Each of the tournament’s fights takes place in different locations from the Avatar canon. They are separated by levels.

  • Battles 20 to 17 – Eastern Air Temple
  • Battle 16 to 11 – Earth Rumble VI
  • Battles 12. to 09. – Northern Water Tribe
  • Battle 08. to 04. – Fire Temple
  • Battles 03. to 01. – Ba Sing Se

Opponents To Face In The Tournament Mode

There are twenty levels, and the tournament plays in the style of the Mortal Kombat games. Each player uses their avatar to fight through 20 different opponents, till they reach the final level.

This is the order in which the opponents appears is thus:

20. Nomis – Waterbender

19. Wild Haggis – Airbender

18. Galtor – Earthbender

17. Cirederf – Firebender

16. Hamish – Earthbender

15. Master Sean – Airbender

14. Raidster – Firebender

13. Tween Sage – Waterbender

05. Bigoudididi – Waterbender

04. Madd Dogg – Earthbender

03. Fire Tongue – Firebender

Interestingly, all the characters are male, except benders from the Water Tribe, which are female. The earthbenders, firebenders, and airbenders are all male. The airbenders in Avatar Arena all have tattoos, indicating that they were all masters. All the waterbenders in Avatar Arena have a water skin and a betrothal necklace, very much like Katara wore.

Avatar Wan and How He Became The First Bender

Wan was the first Avatar, and he lived about ten thousand years before Aang and Avatar Korra. He was banished from his home and sent into the then forbidden forest. The forest was inhabited by spirits, and at that time, the balance was very shaky, and relations between humans and spirits were not at their best. He eventually learned to coexist with the spirits. He made it his life’s mission to help bring balance between them and the rest of mankind. This eventually led to him becoming the first Avatar.

Avatar Wan’s History

Avatar Wan lived in poverty in a city that was built on the back of the fire lion turtle. His main goal was to survive and feed his friends. He did this by regularly stealing food from the wealthy Chou family. He had agility and explicitly cunning behaviors to aid him in staying alive and achieving this task.

On one of these days, he was chased by three of the Chou brothers and ultimately captured. He managed to outrun them at first and make his way to the rooftops. When he stopped to eat, the angry Chou brothers caught up with him. He tried to escape again and was tripped by one of them. His sack of stolen food was taken away from him, and Wan was thrown from the roof into a muddy pen with hybrid pigs.

After he eventually returned to his treehouse, he offered Jaya and Yao the little food he had managed to salvage and stow away in his tunic.

He gave away his own portion to several hungry animals while wishing that their lifestyle could be a lot better. He wished that they could live like the Chous. During this time, however, he devised a plan to gain more power so he could change the way they lived.

His Great Plan

Avatar Wan’s plan was about to commence. He joined a group of hunters who were going out of the city into the forbidden forest (Spirit Wilds) to get food for the town.

Although the head Hunter was skeptical at first about letting Wan join the hunt. He did eventually give in and was allowed to accompany them since there were no other people that were willing to undertake the task.
The customary task was that they travel to the fire lion turtle to receive the power of fire bending before venturing into the spirit wilds. This was so they would be able to defend themselves against the hostile spirits that lived in the spirit wilds.

Soon after the group set off, Wan pretended to suddenly have gotten cold feet and was subsequently ordered by the head hunter to go back to the lion turtle to return his newly acquired ability.

Wan, however, did not return to the lion turtle and instead returned to the city directly, keeping his fire. Despite his friend Jaya’s protests to return the power back to the fire lion, he inspired a few other poor people to join him on a raid on the Chou palace to get more food. Although the raid was going smoothly at first, the Chou brothers called in reinforcements, and Wan was accidentally unmasked by Little Chou and captured.

He was brought before the lion turtle and, although the creature permitted him to keep his fire at his request, Wan was banished to the Spirit Wilds for his crimes.

Avatar Wan Befriending The Spirits

At first, he wandered the spirit wilds, shooting at every spirit he came across. While he was running away from a frog spirit that was chasing him, Wan got eaten by a plant but was able to save himself by using his fire bending ability.

He ran on until he collapsed from exhaustion on an open grassy spot. However, much to his surprise, the grass started to wrap itself around him and pulled him under. He used his fire to save himself from death by suffocation and continued his journey through the wilderness. Afraid to lower his guard in the hostile environment, he stayed awake the whole night.

By morning, he was tired, exhausted, and hungry, which made him stop by what looked like a tree that was carrying a fruit. This eventually turned out to be a swarm of bees that were hurdled together. They swiftly attacked Wan for his disturbance of their habitat.

He couldn’t Get Away

Wan’s frantic attempt to get away from the enraged insects led him to fall off a cliff.
As he landed, he found himself looking at a peaceful island-like oasis with more fruit trees.

Still consumed by hunger and exhaustion, he made his way over toward the little island. He soon found his path blocked by an aye-aye spirit who appeared out of nowhere before him and told him he was not welcome at the oasis. He said humans were not welcome, and the oasis was only open to spirits.

Wan, at first, tried to reason with the spirit. He told the spirit that he was hungry and in need of sleep. Wan attempted to force the creature aside by fire bending at him when the spirit coldly said that it was not his problem.

Enraged by the effrontery, the spirit met Wan’s challenge and easily evaded the attack by teleporting behind him. He grabbed Wan and threw him aside in a nearby bush, causing Wan to walk away in defeat. When he noticed that several other spirits were granted access to the oasis, he covered himself in leaves and branches, disguising himself as “Bushy, the Bush Spirit.”

He briefly managed to fool the oasis guardian, but this was not for long as the guardian was able to tell and discover Avatar Wan’s deception through his human scent. When ordered to return home, Wan told the spirits that he had been banished by the other humans. The other spirits took pity on him and suggested he find other lion turtle cities. Shocked that there were other cities but his own, he asked for directions, but the guardian refused to give any to him, creating a joke out of it, which irritated Wan to the core.

Introduce The Lion Turtles to Avatar Wan

Wan eventually set out to find these lion turtle cities on his own. While traveling through the wilds, he spotted a cat deer that was caught in a net. Still hungry, he approached it with the intent of eating it. Although after seeing the creature up close, he felt pity for it and climbed into the tree instead of in an attempt to free it. At that same moment, the group of hunters that he had accompanied before arrived at the scene with the intent to kill the cat deer.

Wan fire bent at the hunters and ran off, hoping the men would forget about the animal and chase him.
Understanding the dangers of the spirit wild, he used them to his advantage to get rid of two of his pursuers. Before he could free himself completely from the hunters, Wan was struck by a fire blast that sent him flying against a tree branch, rendering him unconscious.

However, before the men could do anything, the aye-aye spirit, touched by Wan’s selfless act, intervened and saved him. Wan was brought back to the oasis by the spirit, where he was placed in the spirit waters, healing him. Wan chose to stay at the oasis and learn the ways of the spirits, which earned him the nickname “Stinky” from the aye-aye spirit.

As time went by, Wan befriended the spirits and developed his fire bending skills by learning the Dancing Dragon form from a white dragon, training himself to the point where his bending became an extension of his own body, not just a tool. He used his abilities to protect the spirits and drive off hostile humans.

Meeting Raava, Becoming The Avatar

Two years after Wan had been banished, he was still insistent on seeing the other cities. He left the spirit oasis with Mula, his cat deer. During his journey, he was disturbed by a horde of fleeing spirits who were trying to get away from an all-raging battle from two “powerful “spirits. The battle was so chaotic that it threatened to destroy the whole valley.

Concerned for the landscape and its creatures, Wan heads over to investigate. He is met by Vaatu and Raava in an all-raging battle. Oblivious to who they both were, he tries to get them to stop. Raava, the white spirit, tells him to move along, stating that the battle does not concern him.

He objects and tells her that it is his concern, stating that the lives of the spirit animals were at stake. Vaatu, sensing weakness and empathy that can be exploited, begs Wan and tells him that Raava has tortured him for ten thousand years. Wan uses his bending to break the hold Raava has on Vaatu. He soon learns the error of his ways, and Raava tells him who she is.

Wan tries to help after knowing this is his fault. He is told to stay out of the conflict, stating that this is not his business.

While on his way, he comes across harvesters with the ability to control air. He unintentionally scares them away. Curiosity getting the best of him, he constructs a catapult and lunges himself up to the city as he has no ability to get all the way up there.

Vaatu Needed to Be Put Away By Avatar Wan

Fascinated by their knowledge while conversing with the people living there. Vaatu arrives, and his presence turned the peaceful spirits living in the town into raging dark entities. After helping them fight off the dark spirits, Wan decides to help Raava further by fighting Vaatu.

To do this, he asks the air lion turtle for its power. No human had ever held two elements before, but Wan insists that he is unlike any other human and says he can do it.
The lion turtle decided to give him the power of the air; however, Raava would have to hold the power for him until he mastered it.

Raava gave the element of air to Wan by passing through his body and combining their energies. Although a dangerous undertaking, Wan survived the ordeal, and the small yet unlikely alliance set out to find the water and earth lion turtles to receive the last two elements.

Wan and Raava work together to master all four elements so he would be ready to defeat Vaatu come Harmonic convergence.

The great battle began, and he called upon Raava to merge both their energies. This gave him additional strength to his own, and he was able to land a few shots to Vaatu. This state put him in great danger, but he was not about to give up. Vaatu pinned him to the southern spirit portal when Harmonic convergence began.

Final Thoughts On Avatar Wan

Wan placed his hand on the spirit portal, permanently bonding his spirit with Raava’s. This, in turn, created the Avatar Spirit, making Wan the first Avatar. With his newfound strength from the Avatar State, Wan managed to trap Vaatu in an elemental cage and imprisoned him in the hollow of the Tree of Time that is in the spirit world. He also closed the northern portal to prevent any human from ever physically entering the spirit world and freeing Vaatu.

Who is The Avatar (Avatar Icon)

Avatar, the Last Airbender series was the birth of a fantastic franchise. It has gathered fans all over the world since its debut and has continued to create memories for children, adults, and young adults all over the world. When Netflix announced the live-action series that was to come, fans were more than excited.

The Avatar is a reincarnation of the Light spirit Raava, fusing with a human being named Wan. He became the first Avatar. He, through resilience and determination, was able to do what no one else had done or thought about doing before in all of history. His uncommon thinking led him to become the first Avatar. Avatars are reincarnations of that first life Wan lived. They act as mediators and bridges between the spirit and the physical world.

Avatar Icon

The Avatar icon is a representation of all four elements and all four nations. As the Avatar, the master of all the four elements, he or she must wield it with great responsibility. They must learn the disciplines of all four, balancing it within themselves in harmony. It is only the Avatar that can do this. The designs on the Avatar icon are four in number. They represent all four elements starting with Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.

Earth Kingdom (Earth)

People of the Earth Kingdom are gifted with the ability to control this element. The element Earth. As General Iroh told Zuko. The people of the Earth Kingdom are diverse and strong. They are both persistent and enduring.

The Earth kingdom is one of the four nations in the Avatar World.

The kingdom spans an entire continent as well as several subsidiary islands. It is also known as the largest and most populated sovereignty in the world and encompasses much of the eastern hemisphere. The Earth kingdom operates as a monarchy under the rule of a king or queen, although the 54th Earth King, Wu of the Hou-Ting dynasty, announced his intention in 174 AG to abdicate the throne in favor of splitting the nation into independent states with democratically elected leaders, akin to the political system used in the United Republic of Nations. This was an action that was necessary for peace as he grew to understand that the people were strong and didn’t need the monarchy to oversee their affairs.

They also adhere to a philosophy of peaceful coexistence and cooperation with the other nations of the world. Earthbenders use their abilities for defense and industry, as seen in Avatar Korra’s Legend. They also fiercely defended their cities against Fire Nation attacks during the Hundred Year War. The Earth kingdom also has a large economy based on agriculture and limited industry, though it is not as economically powerful as the Fire Nation, which benefits from advanced technology.

One of the first Earth Benders were two lovers named Oma and Shu, who learned directly from the Badgers. Oma used it to stop a war between both villages. She created a new city and named it after both of them, Omashu.

Water Tribe/Nation (Water)

The water tribe is divided into the South Pole (Southern water tribe), the North Pole, and Foggy Swamp. As Iroh told Zuko while trying to teach him a new element; The people of the water tribe are capable of adapting to many things. They have a deep sense of community and love that holds them together through anything.

Water tribe is one of the four nations and one of the people with a bending discipline. The water tribe people have the ability to control water.

Water Tribe is also a collective term for the nation of people who practice the art of waterbending.

There is also a small community of water benders that populate the swamp. The people of the Water Tribes are referred to as “Water Tribesmen.”

Fire Nation (Fire)

The Fire Nation is one of the world’s four nations and five sovereign states. It is an absolute monarchy that is led by the Fire Lord. It is home to most fire benders. These are people with the ability to create and manipulate the element fire. Geographically, the nation is located along the planet’s equator in the western hemisphere and is composed of several islands, named the Fire Islands.

As General Iroh said to Zuko when discussing the nature of the fire nation. The people of the fire nation have the desire and will and the energy, and drive to achieve what they want.

The people of the Fire Nation are referred to as “Fire Nationals.”

The Fire Nation is the second-largest nation in terms of area, following the Earth Kingdom, while its economy is the most powerful in the world.

Air Nomads (Air)

The air Nomads of the air nation are one of the four great nations, as Iroh said to Zuko on the nature of the Air Nomads. He said they detached themselves from worldly concerns and found peace and freedom. Air Nomads is a collective term for a group of people who have detached themselves from worldly concerns. They are a monastic order who practice the bending discipline of Air.

The Avatar Icon has these four bending nations present on it. It is a depiction of how the Avatar is the unity of all four nations.

History Of Bisons

Appa is a Sky Bison and is one of the most notable sky bison because of being the animal companion of Avatar Aang. It can be seen in the TV series that the Sky Bisons are greatly respected by Air Nomads. This is due to the fact that they believed Bisons to be the first Airbenders. And every Airbender used to have a partner bison that they got in their childhood.

Before the 100 Years War, most of the Flying Bisons used to live in the Air Temples. And they were thought to be the only way of reaching the Air temples. Even when Katara revealed about the genocide of the Air Nomads, Aang did not believe it initially. And replied to Katara that the only way to reach the Air temples is through a flying Bison. So the Air Nomads can not be killed. But on reaching the temples and witnessing the ruins of once-great and full of life Air Temples firsthand, did Avatar Aang accepted the fate of his people.

First Interaction Between Aang And Baby Appa

Like all Airbenders, Aang also received his Bison when both of them were at a very young age. The mother of Baby Appa directed Appa and her other children to a group of young Nomads to become lifelong partners. Aang presented an apple to baby Appa which he happily accepted thus making them lifelong companions. When Aang overheard the monks’ plan to separate him from Monk Gyatso. He chose Appa to run away from the Air temple. But was caught in the middle of a storm that nearly killed them both.

It is at this time that the Avatar state took control of Aang and he formed a hibernating bubble around himself and Appa thus going into hibernation for a full hundred years.

Personality of Appa

Appa has a very trustworthy personality. He is very peaceful and is a herbivore who does not like to hurt animals. He has very complex feelings like humans. We see Appa on an emotional journey when he is taken captive by a group of Sandbenders. He is sold to a fire kingdom circus owner who forces him to perform. But Appa succeeds in running away from the circus and goes to the desert from where he was kidnapped to find Aang and the rest of the Avatar team.

But cries in pain when he finds nobody there. He then flies over the kingdoms in search of Aang and encounters the Kyoshi warriors where he heals himself both emotionally and physically. In his search for his lost friends Appa ultimately reaches the Eastern Air Temple. And meets Guru Pathik at the Temple who locates Aang from Appa by tracking down his energy trail. Because of his loyalty to The Avatar and his team Appa helps the team quite regularly. Appa has shown signs of intelligence by locating Aang on himself during their separation. He also yawns as a sign of approval or makes sounds as well whenever he is asked a question. The yawns or the sounds indicate his approval.

He also licks the characters that he deems trustworthy. And this personality trait of Appa plays a very crucial role in Zoku‘s acceptance by the Team Avatar. Overall, Appa also has a very cute and likable personality but he is also not shy of flexing his muscles whenever the team is in danger.

Abilities of Appa

Appa possesses very unique abilities that make him a worthy companion of the Avatar on his journey. Not only has he saved Team Avatar numerous times but has also safely escorted them to safety as well. In this section we will discuss some of the most notable abilities of this amazing Flying Bison.

Airbending

The most important ability of Appa is the ability to bend Air. Appa mostly uses his tail to bend the air and is able to fight at very high altitudes to avoid any type of danger. And it is because of this ability of Appa that the Avatar was able to roam all the four continents and master all the elements in time before the arrival of Sozin’s Comet.

His strength has also allowed him to take down two huge Fire Nation Tundra Tanks at the same time.

Appa not only possesses strength but also has huge stamina. As Appa is very heavy and needs to take short breaks while flying over longer journeys. But when the team was in danger and Azula was tracking them everywhere Appa flew non-stop for two days showing his huge stamina.

Red and White Lotus: Two faces of the same tile

In the Avatar Universe, several very important organizations take part in world politics, such as the Dai Li agents. But there was one that stood out above the rest, because for centuries it was composed of wise masters from all over the world: The White Lotus. However, softer times changed things, and new organizations with different paradigms like The Red Lotus emerged.

The White Lotus impressed all the fans, after more than 100 years of inactivity. They stepped up to the plate, and tipped the scales in the Avatar’s favor in the final battle releasing Ba Sing Se. For that reason, in The Legend of Korra, The White Lotus surprised everyone again when they had almost no influence on the Avatar’s numerous battles, and seemed to be a shadow of their former glory, so how did they end up like that? Did everyone agree with the path The White Lotus took? What is the Red Lotus?

What is The White Lotus?

The Order of the White Lotus for centuries went unnoticed and only acted when the avatar in turn needed it. The best and wisest masters in the world composed the order. So its activities and importance were beyond borders and allegiances to the Four Nations. Its original mission was to help the avatar bring balance to the world. It functioned when necessary as a small private army. Their most important function was to find, protect and even train each new avatar. Members identified to each other with a white lotus tile from the popular board game called Pai Sho.

They revealed themselves to the world at the end of the 100 Years War. A group with the most notable members of the White Lotus composed by: Iroh, Jeong Jeong, Pakku, Piandao, and King Bumi attacked a large detachment of the Fire Nation army without reinforcements. With a great show of power, they freed Ba Sing Se, the capital of the Earth Kingdom. While the Avatar team took on Azula and Ozai.

Thanks to their victory, the White Lotus established themselves as a recognized force for good. Considered to have an eye to the future. Unfortunately, the change in the White Lotus’ leadership did not benefit them after Iroh ascended to the Spirit’s World.

White Lotus in Korra’s Times (Red and White Lotus)

Decades after the last battle of the 100 Years’ War, The White Lotus became a publicly known organization. They dedicated to serve the avatar and his family, as a sort of personal escort.

When Aang passed away, it was them who took it upon themselves to search for the next incarnation of the avatar. When they found Korra. They were surprised by the great power she demonstrated at a young age. They took it upon themselves to care for her, guide her and train her.

Unfortunately, the new generation of The White Lotus is considerably weaker. Most of the members are young and inexperienced and the older ones have roles closer to being more advisors than warriors.

The young members of the White Lotus seem unable to cope with the threats of the modern world and the others are too old for active service.

Amon and the Equalists defeated them with terrible ease, when they attacked the Air Temple island. Besides, they are no match for the Red Lotus.

We believe that for a time, Katara, Zuko, and Toph were part of the White Lotus. During that time they met promising young masters, but with their withdrawal, these boys were exposed to the bad influence of the Red Lotus.

What is the Red Lotus?

Originally, The Red Lotus in Avatar comes from the White Lotus. Xai Bau , a member of the White Lotus, founded the organization. Since the society changed its direction after the events from ATLA. Xai Bau felt disgusted for being just a mere bodyguard for the Avatar. Many members shared this feeling and even Iroh The Grand Lotus realized about this and tried to reconcile. However, tensions inside the order increased until this faction deserted.

The Red Lotus’ main goal was to bring freedom to the world by dismantling world governments. They intended to unify the world. They wanted to reconnect the spirit world and the human world by using the Avatar to open the spirit portals. The White Lotus was aware of this. They understood their point of view, but didn’t realize The Red Lotus would become an extremist, terrorist group.

The creation of this different Lotus group may have been one of the reasons why The White Lotus deteriorated. The new organization was more attractive to more powerful young people. It was similar to its counterpart in previous years, it was kept underground. We know that Zaheer, Ghazan, and Ming-Hua once had some relationship with the White Lotus. But since they did not have the same ideas, they parted ways for good.

The Red Lotus tried to accomplish its plan trying to kidnap the Avatar twice. First, when Korra was still a baby. Zaheer, Ghazan, P’Li, and Ming-Hua tried to kidnap her. They wanted to indoctrinate her with their organization’s ideology to reverse Avatar Wan’s actions from the past. Avatar Wan did not only separate Raava and Vaatu, the spirits of light and darkness. In addition, he also divided the spiritual and physical worlds. To the eyes of The Red Lotus, those actions had brought imbalance to the world.

Kidnap The Avatar (The Red and White Lotus)

Toranq, Tenzin, Sokka, Zuko frustrated their first attempt to kidnap Korra. So they incarcerated the members aforementioned in maximum security prisons until the Harmonic Convergence in the year 171 AG.

The main members of the Red Lotus escaped and tried to kidnap Korra again, with a slight difference. Since Korra was a grown-up by that moment their plan to implant their ideology on her was no longer viable. They decided to kidnap her to induce Korra into the Avatar State to assassinate her, and put an end to the avatar cycle. While The Red Lotus tried to accomplish its main goal. They didn’t lose time causing instability everywhere they went to the point they suffocated to death the Earth Queen.

Besides, Zaheer, Ghazan, P’Li, and Ming-Hua we could see other members from The Red Lotus during TLOK like Aiwei and Unalaq. However, since The Red Lotus is a secret organization we don’t know how many members there are hidden or if they are going to counter-attack again in the future.

As we could realize given this information both organizations had the same origin. However, The Red Lotus diverted from the righteous path when they decided to start terrorizing to accomplish their plans. Anyone could agree with either organization but as we know the end doesn’t justify the means.

The Avatar Intro: One of The Best Cartoon Openers Ever Made

The Last Airbender series has one of the most iconic intros in animations. You’re mentally reciting it, aren’t you? Yeah. It’s that epic. The Avatar Intro is one thing that every fan of the show remembers.

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s opening Introduction visually tells you about the story and the world of the four nations. It introduces many important things and the need to know information about the series in such a short period of time. Not only does Katara’s narration explain the backstory of the world, but the sequence showcases four characters using their bending abilities. These are the original bending abilities that make up the four nations.

The Avatar Intro

“Long ago, the four nations lived in peace and harmony. But everything changed when the fire nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most? He vanished.

A hundred years passed, and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar. An airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills were great; He had a lot to learn before he was ready to save anyone. But I believe that Aang can save the world.”

This Introduction by Katara pretty much catches a first-time viewer that starts the series even at Book Three on what has happened so far. However, it would do them good to start from Book One.

The Introduction also showcases several cut scenes like four benders bending the four elements.

Their scenes are in quick succession, so it is not easy to identify them.

Who are The Four Benders in the Avatar Intro?

The first few scenes showcase these four benders, bending the four different elements skillfully. Katara carefully explains what had happened up until the moment when the boy in the Ice was found. The first few scenes show Aang demonstrating his air bending skills. It is then followed by Roku, demonstrating the bending powers of a fully realized Avatar. As the show proceeded, we got to find out the names of some of the benders in the intro.

First Bender

The first bender is Master Pakku. Pakku was first introduced in the last parts of Book one. This was when Sokka, Katara, Aang, Appa, and Momo got to the North Pole.

He came around the last part of the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

For a time, he was Aang’s and Katara’s waterbending teacher, although he originally was hell-bent on refusing to teach Katara. This was due to the traditions and customs that the north pole had. It was because of her gender, and this complicated their relationship. Eventually, Pakku recognized Katara’s abilities and tasked her as Aang’s next master soon after they left the northern water tribe.

Second Bender

The second bender in the credits was revealed as Azula. She was introduced around the last episode of book one. She became one of the main villains in the show and a prominent antagonist of the team Avatar. She demonstrated and exhibited great talent as a fire bender. She is far crueler than Zuko ever was and threatened both Aang and even Zuko himself.

It makes sense of her to represent the fire element in the opening credits, as not only is she talented with the element, but Azula also embodies the spirit of the Fire Nation during the events of The Last Airbender.

The other two characters in the intro, however, are not that easily identifiable. The earth bender was supposed to be Aang’s future earthbending teacher.

However, the creators of the series decided that a girl should be the one to help Aang master the element instead of the earlier proposed character.

So they created Toph and introduced her in book two, the second season of the series.

Later, the design of the credits was used for Roku’s earthbending teacher, Sud. In this case, the character in the Introduction came first because Sud was introduced and only appeared in season 3 of the show.

Finally, no one knows for sure the identity of the Airbender shown in the opening sequence.

Although at first glance, it might look like it was Aang, when closely looked at, a mustache is visible on the bender’s face. This also eliminates the possibility of it being Yangchen, the female airbending Avatar, as a possibility.

Some have speculated that the Airbender in the credits is indeed a younger version of Gyatso, Aang’s teacher and surrogate father, but this is not entirely confirmed. The original identity of the character was likely scrapped during the creative process, similar to how Sud and Toph transformed between Avatar: The Last Airbender seasons.

The narration changes as the series progress.

Narration for The Avatar Introd

Katara narrates the opening sequence. In the first episode, she states:

“Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar kept the balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar mastered all four elements. Only he could stop the ruthless fire benders. But when the world needed him most, he vanished.

A hundred years have passed, and the Fire Nation is nearing victory in the War. Two years ago, my father and the men of my tribe journeyed to the Earth Kingdom to help fight against the Fire Nation, leaving my brother and me to look after our tribe. Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads and that the cycle is broken. But I haven’t lost hope. I still believe that somehow, the Avatar will return to save the world.”

In subsequent episodes, she says:

“Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed, and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an Airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world.”

In the unaired pilot episode, she says:

“Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, how the four nations once lived in harmony, how everything changed once the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar mastered all four elements. Only he could stop the ruthless fire benders. But when the world needed him most, he disappeared.

Nobody had seen him for a hundred years until my brother, and I found him, an Airbender named Aang. The problem is, this Avatar is still a kid, and even though his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone. The Fire Nation will do anything to capture Aang before he masters all four elements, so I must keep him safe until he’s ready to fulfill his destiny. My brother thinks I’m crazy, but I believe Aang can save the world.”

On the first page of The Promise Part One, Katara says:

“Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished.

A hundred years passed, and my brother Sokka and I discovered the new Avatar, an Airbender named Aang. Although his airbending skills were great, he had a lot to learn before he was ready to save anyone. But from the first day I met him, I believed Aang would save the world. And you know what? I was right.

With the help of his friends, Aang defeated Fire Lord Ozai and ended the Hundred Year War. Zuko, Ozai’s son and our ally became the new Fire Lord. Together with Earth, King Kuei, Aang, and Zuko promised to return the nations to harmony.”

Aang Avatar State

Aang Avatar State: Every time We See It In The Series

The Aang Avatar State is one of the most powerful modes that the character has been in over the years in the franchise. Aang is most powerful during the Avatar State, and we have seen him use it multiple times in The Last Airbender, and even in The Legend of Korra. Here’s what happened each time he used it.

All Avatars have the distinct ability to enter the Avatar state; which is pretty much a super mode that allows them to bend all the elements at the same time. But there is more to the Avatar state than meets the eye. The Avatar state lets an Avatar access past memories from previous Avatars – and perform feats of bending that are astronomical. After all, the Avatar state grants Avatars access to cosmic energy. What’s more, the Avatar state lets the current Avatar take the appearance of a past Avatar; just like we saw the Avatar state turn Aang into Kyoshi.

The power that comes with the Avatar State can be very dangerous, however, as only Avatars who master a balanced state of mind are able to control it. The Avatar’s eyes glow (in the case of Airbenders, their tattoos glow as well) whenever they are in the Avatar State.

Those who have mastered the use of the Avatar state only see their eyes glow at the moment they enter the Avatar State instead of continuously. Avatars might also enter the Avatar State by accident if they find themselves in danger or are in an extremely emotional place.

Throughout the three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aang is shown using the Avatar State several times and for a variety of reasons. He entered the Avatar State to save his life and out of anger or sadness; but the Avatar State also came in handy purposefully. Aang eventually learned to master the State too and was shown using it again during The Legend of Korra. This is everytime that we see the Avatar State and what happened.

The Aang Avatar State: Aang’s Return After 100 Years

We first see the Aang Avatar state in the very first episode of The Last Airbender. Aang emerges from an iceberg after 100 years of being missing. We are told later that Aang only entered the Avatar State after he crashed into the ocean during a storm. The Aang Avatar State in this instance activated to save him and Appa from drowning. It left them in suspended animation for 100 years; until Sokka and Katara released them. Katara cracked the iceberg open, ending the Aang Avatar State and Aang’s time in the iceberg.

At The Southern Air Temple

The next time Aang enters the Avatar State is in season 1, episode 3, when he visits the Southern Air Temple with Katara and Sokka. It is here that he learns Firebenders killed his former teacher, Monk Gyatso, while Aang was in the iceberg. Aang’s emotions cause him to enter the State again, but Katara manages to calm him down with the reassurance that Aang isn’t alone anymore.

The Avatar State At The Fire Temple

We see the Aang Avatar State again during season 1, episode 8. This was the third time, but we got to see a new dimension to what Aang could do in the Avatar state. He takes on the form of Avatar Roku when the team visits the Fire Temple; which had a sanctuary that allowed Aang to connect to his predecessor. Roku then used his firebending to save Katara and Sokka and also destroy the temple.

During The Storm

Aang is next shown entering the State during a large storm in season 1, episode 12. The storm comes while Sokka is out on the sea with fishermen and all of their lives are put in danger. Aang and Katara fly through the storm on Appa’s back to save them and rescue Sokka and the fishermen. Unfortunately, the storm sends them all crashing into the ocean. Aang re-enters the Avatar State here to use Airbending to create a protective sphere around them so they don’t drown.

Aang Avatar State At The Northern Water Tribe

The next time we see the Aang Avatar State, we follow the team to the Northern Water Tribe; and it was epic. It was the greatest showcase of Aang’s ability up to that point when using the Avatar State. As the Fire Nation are invading the Northern Water Tribe, events lead to Admiral Zhao killing the Moon Spirit’s mortal koi fish form. In aanger *wink*, Aang enters the State, combining himself with the Ocean Spirit.

Together they formed a giant koi fish made of water. Aang then uses his increased power to wipe out the Fire Nation fleet, saving the Northern Water Tribe. This connection to the Ocean Spirit ends however, once the Moon Spirit is restored by Princess Yue’s sacrifice.

Aang Saves Katara

The first episode of season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender shows Aang entering the State again to save Katara. General Fong of the Earth Kingdom pushes Aang to learn to master the State and uses Katara as bait to trigger the State. Fong tricks him into believing he killed Katara and Aang’s emotions activate the Avatar State again. Aang can’t control it, even after Katara is confirmed to be alive, and destroys his surroundings.

Following Appa’s Disappearance

The Aang Avatar State comes up again at the middle of Season 2, as he confronts the sandbenders that kidnapped Appa. The Earthbenders stole the flying bison, and then sold him; but they do not know where he can be found. Aang is so infuriated with this that he enters the State immediately. Katara manages to calm Aang down before he hurts anyone, although he does destroy the thieves’ mode of transportation.

As Aang Fights Zuko & Azula

The season 2 finale of The Last Airbender sees Aang enter the State again. After not being able to let go of his attachment to Katara in exchange for cosmic power, Aang believed he wouldn’t be able to master the State. But, when a fight with Zuko and Azula turns dire, Aang decides to let go of Katara so he can save them all. Aang enters the Avatar State ready to defeat the Fire Nation, but Azula hits him in the back with her lightning. Katara manages to save his life by using spirit water to heal him, but Aang remains unconscious for weeks anyway.

Aang Avatar State Appears When Aang Fights The Fire Lord

We don’t see the Aang Avatar State in the third book/ third season except in the final episode; the series finale. Here, he battles Fire Lord Ozai in a final confrontation; as Sozin’s comet powers the firebenders all around them. The Aang Avatar State only appears as Aang enters it near the end of the battle. Using the Avatar state gives Aang a lot of power over the Fire Lord, but he doesn’t want to kill Ozai. Instead he exits the Avatar State before dealing a deadly blow. Aang then uses energybending to strip Ozai of his bending.

When He Takes On Yakone In the Legend of Korra

The last time Aang is known to have entered the State comes in season 1, episode 9 of The Legend of Korra. Aang is shown fighting a bloodbender named Yakone, who initially gets the best of the Avatar. Aang enters the State once more to chase down Yakone, and the power kicks in again when the bloodbender attempts to snap his neck. The Avatar State saved Aang’s life and allowed him to take Yakone’s bending abilities away.

Quote:  “If you want to be a bender, you have to let go of fear.”  Aang told Sokka this while trying to teach him to relax.

Quote: “Aang is the Avatar. He is the world’s only chance.”

Gran Gran, also known as Kya, told Sokka and Katara when they were about to leave the Southern water tribe in the south pole.

Quote: “I am Melon Lord!” Toph.

Quote: “I release a sonic wave from my mouth … AAHHH!” Actor Toph said this in a play by the Ember Island Players, playing the Boy in the iceberg.

Quote: Harsh words won’t solve problems, action will.” Aang, to the Gan Jins and the Zhangs, when trying to get them to put away their differences.

Quote: “Pirates love to haggle. Watch and learn.” Aang said this while being poor at bargaining.

We can’t look at Avatar quotes without eventually highlighting probably the most important one that’s stuck to all our heads as Avatar fans. This is the Avatar introduction. It started with Katara explaining the current situation and how we end up at that point, all up until the point when we are caught up and they meet the boy in the iceberg. The intros changed up a bit as the series progressed.

The narration changes as the series progresses.

Long But Still The Best Avatar Quotes

Katara narrates the opening sequence. In the first episode, she states:

“Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar mastered all four elements. Only he could stop the ruthless firebenders. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years have passed and the Fire Nation is nearing victory in the War. Two years ago, my father and the men of my tribe journeyed to the Earth Kingdom to help fight against the Fire Nation, leaving me and my brother to look after our tribe. Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads, and that the cycle is broken.

A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world.”

In the unaired pilot episode, she says:

“Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, how the four nations once lived in harmony. How everything changed once the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar mastered all four elements. Only he could stop the ruthless firebenders. But when the world needed him most, he disappeared. Nobody had seen him for a hundred years, until my brother and I found him, an airbender named Aang.

A hundred years passed and my brother Sokka and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang. Although his airbending skills were great, he had a lot to learn before he was ready to save anyone. But from the first day I met him, I believed Aang would save the world. And you know what? I was right. With the help of his friends, Aang defeated Fire Lord Ozai and ended the Hundred Year War. Zuko, Ozai’s son and our ally, became the new Fire Lord. Together with Earth King Kuei, Aang and Zuko promised to return the nations to harmony.”

Who is Amon? from Avatar The Legend Of Korra?

Avatar The Legend of Korra: Who is Amon? Amon is an anarchist that served as one of Korra’s foes. He was the first obstacle that Korra encountered on her Avatar journey. So, who is Amon?

Avatar Aang and his friends always had the support of each other, and this helped them defeat the Fire Lord Ozai, ending the 100- year war.

Asking yourself how the world went from its state of balance to the upset and imbalance we see in the adventures in the Legend of Korra.

Several things happened which were documented in different graphic novels that predate the birth of Korra. The creators, along with a lot of other talented writers, dropped different novels on the happenings after the Defeat of Ozai.

Other Stories Before Korra

There have been graphic novels like The Search, The Rift, The Promise, and many more.

The Search is a graphic novel trilogy that is set one year after the events in The Promise. It also precedes the novel The Rift.

It was written by Gene Luen Yang with Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The trilogy was released in three separate installments by Dark Horse Comics in collaboration with Nickelodeon throughout 2013.

The story focuses on Zuko and Azula as they search for their mother, Ursa, with Team Avatar accompanying them to keep the mentally unstable princess in check.

Zuko tells Team Avatar regarding Azula.

“She’s going to come with me to look for our mother

“The Search trilogy includes:

Part one, two and three.

The first part of the Search is the first installment in the graphic novel trilogy series. It is a continuation of The Promise storyline. That itself is a follow-up of the series after the live TV animation series had ended. This is after team Avatar defeats Fire Lord Ozai.

This follow-up to the plot of Avatar: The Last Airbender was originally set to be released by Dark Horse Comics in collaboration with Nickelodeon on March 20, 2013. It was released with its counterparts in Avatar: The Last Airbender—The Search Library Edition HC on February 5, 2014.

The Search takes up after The Promise ends and so on until the birth of Korra.

As we have already established who Korra is, Who is Amon?

Who is Amon?

Amon and his Equalists on a mission of chaos

In Avatar the Legend of Korra: Who is Amon?

Amon is a water bender, born in the Northern water tribe. He was born in 130AG. His real name is Noatak. He is the leader of the anti-bending group that is known as the Equalists. Amon giving a speech during the Revelation rally said.

“The Era of bending is over! A new Era of Equality has begun.”

Amon and his Equalists believe that bending induces an imbalance in the world. They also want to rid the world of bending by taking away the bending of anyone they can find. Naturally, the Avatar is the bridge, and the master of all four bending disciplines becomes Amon’s target. He toils with Korra, making her feel helpless, and finally succeeds in taking her bending away. This was before she could air bend.

Amon’s Goal

Amon about to take away a bender's ability for good

The ultimate goal of the Equalists was to introduce equality for all by permanently ridding the world of benders. The ranks of the Equalists are filled with non-benders who have suffered at the hands of benders and bending battles, unable to do anything in their defense.

Amon is a nimble, agile, and stealthy fighter. He was fearless in facing his opponents, regardless of their powerful bending skills and abilities.

Amon claims to be an innocent non-bender who has been granted the power to rid the world of bending by the spirits. This is a power that was demonstrated by Avatar Aang in his final battle with Fire Lord Ozai. Aang chose the better path, deciding on a way forward that did not involve taking the Fire Lord’s life. He desperately sought this method as he could feel in the core of his being that the alternative option would alter his true nature.

Amon quickly gained the support of a lot of people, sharing his ideals like a plague and gathering more followers by the day.

Amon’s Rise to Power

Amon threw the entire system of Republic city into chaos. The council, at first refusing to acknowledge the imminent threat that Amon posed, refused to take precautions.

However, they soon came to acknowledge the danger. And just before the complete conquest of Republic City by the Equalists, Amon’s true identity was exposed to the public by Avatar Korra.

She revealed that he was, in fact, a water bender. He was a prodigious Northern Water Tribe blood bender, son of the escaped crime boss, Yakone. Yakone was defeated by Avatar Aang in Republic city before Noatak was born. Alongside his younger brother, the former councilman, Tarrlok, Amon was unknowingly shaped by Yakone to be a tool for his revenge against the Avatar. With his identity exposed and his followers deserting him, Amon fled the city with Tarrlok. Tarrlok, however, ignited the fuel tank of their speedboat, killing them both. He saw this as a fitting end for both of them.

Amon’s Early Life

Noatak was born in the Northern Water Tribe to Yakone and his wife. He was the older brother of Tarrlok by three years. When he was growing up, he was a good-natured child who always looked out for his younger brother and wanted everyone to be treated fairly and equally. It is said that those with the greatest capacity for compassion also have the ability for great hatred. It is the case for Noatak.

When Yakone discovered that both Noatak and Tarrlok were water benders, he ruthlessly trained them to help them develop their skills.

While Noatak was a natural, Tarrlok struggled to progress as quickly and was often verbally abused by Yakone due to this. Noatak originally would stand up for his brother. He, however, stopped doing so when Yakone, their father, ordered him to never talk back.

When Noatak was ten, Yakone took both of his sons on a supposed hunting trip far from their home.

Amon’s True Powers

This was where he revealed his true identity as a Republic City criminal and explained what had happened to him all up until that time. He also explained the power of blood bending to them. He also claimed that their family had the strongest line of blood benders in history. This explains why Amon was strong enough to use blood bending to rid people of their bending without a full moon.

Amon, demonstrating his true powers and taking away bending

Katara originally displayed this ability to blood bend without a full moon but never to Amon’s level. It was on this hunting trip that he expressed his intent to make his two sons blood benders of the highest level. This was in order to exact his revenge against Aang for stripping him of his bending.

Yakone trained the two boys secretly during every full moon to use their blood bending on animals, such as yaks and wolves.

Noatak reveled in his newfound power, eventually mastering Yakone’s unique psychic blood bending technique by the time he was fourteen. As a prodigy, he carried the burden of all his father’s expectations and demands. Over the years, he became cold and detached. This birthed the Amon that we see in The Legend of Korra series.

At some point in his life, Noatak figured out how to use blood bending to disrupt a bender’s chi, making it impossible for them to bend. He assumed the alias of “Amon” and became the leader of the Equalists, an organization striving to rid the world of bending.

Avatar Wallpapers and Cool Graphics

If you’ve seen the Last Air Bender Series or The Legend of Korra series, you would know that some really cool scenes and characters would make for really cool wallpapers.

We would be compiling some of the best wallpapers that you can definitely use as an Avatar fan. Here are some really cool wallpapers from Reddit and other sources

Avatar Spirit Within: art by @charlestanart

This is a fan art of Avatar Korra by Charles. This image shows a fierce looking Avatar Korra and the light spirit, Raava inside of her. It is a beautiful wallpaper for your mobile phone or Laptop. Raava is the spirit of Light that fused with Avatar Wan about 10,000 years ago.

She fused with Wan to help defeat Vaatu. Wan was able to cage Vaatu in the tree of time due to Raava’s help. She exists in every Avatar, maintaining a connection with Korra and all the past Avatars. This image shows Korra in a beautiful light with the spirit within her, the spirit of love and light, Raava, glowing within. Raava’s strength and the bond between her and all the Avatars is what forms the Avatar State.

Avatar State Avatar Wallpapers

This is a fan art that was compiled by bringing several different wallpapers together.

This showcases Aang in the Avatar state. A state that enables him to summon tremendous power and tap into great and dispense great strength. It is a state that helps him connect with his strength, the past Avatars before him and the power of Raava.

The Avatar state enables its user and can be a two edged sword still. If he or any Avatar is killed while in the Avatar state, the cycle will be halted permanently as Roku warns him in one of his many times when he unknowingly slips into the Avatar state.

It also shows Toph Beifong, a blind master earth bender, Katara, a master water bender  Zuko, a crown Prince and Aang in his original element, Air. This image represents all the four elements and the merger of all four in one person, the Avatar.

Team Avatar Avatar Wallpapers

Team Avatar is the team that bonded together to restore balance. The Team Avatar is a legendary team that started with Sokka, Aang and Katara and of course Appa. The team grew as the quest and need grew.

Team Avatar is the name used to refer to Avatar Aang and his companions. They put together this team on Aang’s journey to master all four elements and defeat the Fire Lord. Balance was much needed during and after the 100 year war. Aang and his friends started out to restore the balance that the fire nation had upset but wiping out the Air Nation (Nomads), taking Earth nation territory and waging war on the Water tribe.

Majestic Avatar

We are all accustomed with the goofy Avatar but few times in the series when it all went dark and called for a lot more seriousness than we are used to when watching the series.

This is an older Avatar from the time he came out of the iceberg. Judging by the age, he looks a little older than when he defeated the Fire Lord. At this point, Aang was well on his way to becoming a fully realised Avatar. Aang aged rapidly after he came out of the iceberg and this is as a result of a lot of his life force becoming drained over the 100 year period that he maintained the Avatar state.

This image showcases him bending all four elements as a fully realized Avatar would.

Strongest Avatars Avatar Wallpapers

Some of the strongest Avatars in the Universe have been able to do extraordinary things. From Avatar Wan, a Peasant who didn’t own anything but the clothes on his back. He went on to become the first Avatar. Wan trained for years just to be strong enough to house Raava and hold all the four elements in his body.

This was the bravery and a feat no one had ever attempted or dreamed of attempting. Some of the strongest Avatars from Aang to Kyoshi, Roku, and many more. This would most definitely make excellent wallpaper for your phone.

Last Air Bender Series

The Last airbender series is one that graced all our screens and made memories that we would never forget. With the recent announcement of a Netflix adaptation of the series brought the much needed revival to the series’ franchise. This image shows the whole team Avatar, post the defeat of Fire Lord Ozai.

It shows Fire Lord Zuko on the front, Katara, Toph, Sokka, Appa, Momo. It also shows an enraged Avatar Aang, in the Avatar state. There is also a collection of all four elements in the background as seen in the final fight between Aang and Ozai.

Aang and Katara with Toph as Third wheel

The couple and their growth is one to behold as Aang and Katara never gave up. This wallpaper is for Aang and Katara stans who have always supported and loved the relationship. The image showcases them looking wonderful together with Toph as a third wheel. Toph with her looks that clearly says Sokka forced me to do this. Momo is also featured in this shot as the pet lemur would be part of the family for many more years to come.

The image is definitely one that you want to have as it just seems beautiful watching the two young lovers all grown up and starting their dream family.

Aang and Zuko – Avatar Wallpapers

A lifelong friendship that began with so much hate. This image showcases Zuko and Avatar Aang. This image happens after they had defeated the Fire Lord. Zuko becomes the Fire Lord and Aang marries Katara, becoming a fully realized Avatar.

Aang and Zuko created a bending city that did not discriminate. This was a city where all benders from all nations could live. A center of harmony. Aang and Zuko’s friendship did not start off to a smooth start but they eventually grow to form one of the strongest bonds. Bonds that withstood the test of time.

Appa Plush: The Appa Stuffed Animal Every Fan Needs

Plushes are toys made out of soft furry clothes. There is no difference between plushes and stuffed animals as these names are used interchangeably. Plushies are used mostly because of how cute it sounds.

Stuffed animals are usually filled with cotton, wool, or straw. In other rare cases, they fill the plushies with more hard or rough materials like beans or plastic pellets.

You will know a stuffed animal when you see one as they are often soft and cuddly. The physical features are usually exaggerated, like their large pleading eyes, and short feet and limbs. This is what fuels its cuteness and appeal to those who love them.

Plushies are often made in animal shapes. It was first invented in Germany in the 19th century. These days, people of different age range own one.

Appa Plush

Appa is a cute flying bison which the avatar Aang uses as his source of transportation. He is fluffy and cute and would definitely be snuggly as a plush.

Types of Stuffed Animals

Stuffed animals are created in a variety of sizes and shapes. The appearance of a plush is usually used to classify its different types as they are shaped like popular creatures or objects. The bear is the most common type of plush: they are also known as “teddy bears.”

There are different bears in design, from panda bears to brown bears and koala bears. However, there are some plushes utilized as tiny key chains. There are also giant teddy bears that are as big as the large armchairs. They are generally about twenty centimeters high.

Also, dogs and cats are also common animals that are made in plushies. You can get plushes on the African savannah animals like the cheetah, the lion, or the hippotamus.

Calling them “stuffed animals” insinuates that all plushies look like animals. This is false. Though most of them take the shape of animals, there are others shaped differently. While most of them do resemble real animals, many of them are shaped differently.

There are plushie kinds that are shaped into spirits or mythological creatures. Others are inspired by characters from different books or films. Also, some plushies are made for real individuals. Are there other terms for “stuffed animal”?
There are so many different names for stuffed animals, such as “plushie.” The word “plush” is gotten from the French word “peluché,” which means “fluff” or “plush.”

Some people also called stuffed animals “stuffed toy,” “plush toy,” or “stuffy,” or “teddy bear.” They are known as soft toys in the UK and Australia.

Materials are Used to Make Stuffed Animals

The softness and flexibilities of a fluffy toy are one of the reasons they are so cute and wanted by all.
Their combined features of goodness and various physical features make the got to toys for comfort. The softness of a stuffed animal is mainly because of the material used.

The fabric used is similar to those that are used for clothing. The most common stuffing used is wool stuffing. Wool can be bent over a thousand times before it starts giving off the inclination that it is about to lose its shape. Wool, however, cannot be washed with the washing machine else; it begins to change its form.

The problem with wool, however, is that the material can’t be machine washed or dried without losing its form. Good quality cotton, on the other hand, will have been preshrunk before used as a stuffing, which is why plushies made with cotton are easier to wash. Plushies filled with polyester fiberfill are also very common, as polyester is relatively cheap and won’t cause allergic reactions.

Can I Use a Machine to Wash Stuffed Animals?

Except it is clear that these stuffed animals are made with materials suitable for machine washing, do not use them. If you absolutely have to, make sure to use the gentlest cycle available on your washing machine. It would be best to wash the plushies wrapped up inside a pillow cover or a large bedsheet. Benefits of Plushes?

Plushies simply know how to do just one thing; to comfort their owners. Young children see plushies as a mental security shield. Sometimes, they even help kids sleep comfortably.

Plushies also serve as an aid for children’s development in life. As they grow, they learn to start becoming self-reliant on plushies. Some matured minds use plushies as gifts or proof of love to their loved ones. Plushes can also be sources of healing for broken-hearted people.

The Order of the White Lotus (Avatar): A Guide

The Order of the White Lotus is possibly the most soulful organization in the entire Avatar franchise.

Its members are all popular, inspiring characters in their own rights. And all of them are pillars of wisdom and truth in a world that seemed destined for domination by people who lacked such wonderful qualities.

This article will guide you through the origins, philosophy, and legacy of this most wonderful society while introducing you to the main members seen in the Avatar: The Last Airbender TV series.

Why a White Lotus?

The White Lotus symbolism pays homage to Pai Sho – the worldwide popular board game (in the Avatar world, that is). The Order started out as a group of like-minded people who could have a friendly battle of Pai Sho together. The White Lotus is one side of the lotus tile in this game, with the other side being the Red Lotus.

When the Order of the White Lotus’ membership grew, Pai Sho also became a means for members to communicate discreetly. Pretty cool, eh?!

In the first series of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Grandmaster Iroh makes the first reference to the lotus tile:

“Most people think the lotus tile insignificant, but it is essential for the unusual strategy that I employ.”

Origins of The Order of the White Lotus (Avatar)

Avatar Kyoshi was the first known Avatar to benefit from guidance of the White Lotus.

The formation date of the Order of the White Lotus is unknown, but we know they were active by the time of Avatar Kuruk (345 BG-312 BG).

It started out as a small Pai Sho games club. The only function was to share wisdom and knowledge that its members had gained throughout their respective lives. It’s fair to assume that this was all done just for fun. But at some point, they decided to spread their wisdom throughout the world as best as they could – for the benefit of all the world’s people.

By the time of Avatar Kuruk’s death, the White Lotus had evolved to take on more responsibilities. They wanted to unite the 4 nations into something more peaceful, as well as to protect the existence of the Avatar – the mortal portal of the physical world into the spirit world.

The Order, along with everyone else, failed to correctly identify the new Avatar (Avatar Kyoshi). An Air Nomad, named Jinpa, acted as a guide to Kyoshi. He was the first White Lotus member (that we know of) to act as a kind of guide or teacher to an Avatar when.

Kyoshi suffered an extremely difficult childhood. If she’d been discovered sooner, it has been argued that her suffering may not have occurred. Nevertheless, Jinpa made amends for this by guiding Kyoshi to eventually become a successful Avatar, who succeeded in maintaining harmony in the world.

Jinpa did an excellent job of performing the proper function of a White Lotus member’s duty to the Avatar, while not revealing the secret existence of the Order.

Identity/Philosophy of the White Lotus (Avatar)

Tapestry of the real-life White Lotus society from China.

There actually existed a White Lotus Society in real-life China. This society promoted a vegetarian diet and encouraged men and women to speak openly together – a radical idea in that time and place.

It is generally accepted that, spiritually speaking, the White Lotus has represented enlightenment and rebirth. Since the plant itself grows in murky, dirty waters, it is a symbol of hope.

It is safe to say that the fictional White Lotus in Avatar took its name from this historical society. The nature of secrecy employed by its members, though, as well as the brotherly way in which they share wisdom could be better compared to another real-life society – Freemasons.

Nevertheless, the White Lotus in Avatar are suitably unique in their own way. All of its members are also gifted in combat – from waterbending, to earthbending, firebending, and swordplay. They’re all pretty much bad-asses, actually!!

The fact that they choose to keep the society a secret points to their lack of egotistical desires. They don’t wish to be worshipped for their wisdom – they only want to enjoy wisdom for wisdom’s sake, and to share it with the world without the need for recognition.

This is very much the beauty of the White Lotus. And, of course, they played a vital role in preparing Avatar Aang to eventually save the world from Fire Lord Ozai’s empire…

White Lotus Helping Avatar Aang

Bumi: King of Omashu

In the 5th episode of season 1, Bumi was introduced as a crazy king with questionable sanity. He put Aang through a series of mind-bending trials which challenged him to think outside the box when he inevitably faces difficulties as the Avatar.

“I hope you will think like a mad genius!” Bumi to Avatar Aang.

Pakku: Waterbending Master

Pakku initially refused to teach waterbending to Katara due to her being female. Before long, though, he realised the folly of such a stance. It was Katara who progressed faster as a waterbender between herself and Avatar Aang under Pakku’s tutleage. And it was due to this fact that Aang was able to master waterbending under Katara’s guidance.

Jeong Jeong: The Reluctant Firebending Teacher

Jeong Jeong was the first Fire Nation soldier to escape the empirical army without getting killed! It was his reputation and standing among Fire Nation rebels that convinced Aang that he wanted Jeong Jeong as his firebending teacher. Jeong Jeong refused to teach him initially, but eventually submitted (thanks to the intervention of Avatar Roku).

When Aang burned Katara’s hand during training, it served as evidence that Avatars should take heed of White Lotus members’ words!

Piandao: Sokka’s Master

Piandao was another White Lotus member to indirectly give strength to Aang through the training of a Team Avatar member (much like Pakku’s training of Katara). The art of swordsmanship proved useful to Sokka following Piandao’s coaching – Zuko’s experience under Piandao’s tutelage helped Aang a couple of times, too (even if Zuko wasn’t a member of Team Avatar at certain of those times).

Iroh: The Grandmaster and Grand Lotus

Who could forget Iroh? He gave useful advices to Aang and Toph even when he was supposedly in opposition to them. Clearly, though, his most notable contribution to Avatar Aang’s mission was his guidance of Prince Zuko. Without Iroh’s input, it’s quite possible that Zuko would never have joined Team Avatar. As a result of that, who knows what might have happened in Aang’s final battle with Fire Lord Ozai?

Iroh’s wisdom is characteristic of the Avatar series throughout – and it is also, more subtly, characteristic of the White Lotus.

Fan Theory: Monk Gyatso Was in The White Lotus? (Avatar)

Before Aang was frozen for 100 years, he was trained by Monk Gyatso. This teacher was sceptical of the forceful nature that authorities wanted to implement Avatar training onto Aang, displaying the kind of calm and wisdom we’d expect from the White Lotus.

Could it be that Gyatso was a member of the secret Order? It’s only speculation from a few fans online … but an interesting and plausible theory, nonetheless!

Legacy

White Lotus Reclaiming Ba Sing Se (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

The Order’s low profile was ended along with the Hundred Year War, when their cooperation and incredible power reclaimed Ba Sing Se for its people.

They also went on to save Sokka, Toph, and Suki from Fire Nation soldiers as they took down the Fire Nation airships.

One could argue that the Avatar would have lost the Hundred Year War had it not been for the Order of the White Lotus.

White Lotus (Avatar) Abandoning Secrecy

After the war, the White Lotus became an organization which actively and outwardly tasked itself with ensuring the Avatar’s safety. They did exactly this with Avatar Korra.

It became an ally of governments … which led to some conflicts…

Red Lotus

Unfortunately, the White Lotus’ legacy was tainted by the rise of the Red Lotus.

You may recall that the lotus tile in Pan Sho had two sides: the white lotus, and the red lotus. The Red Lotus, then, was the much like the dark version of the Order of the White Lotus. Instead of promoting peace and harmony, the Red Lotus believed that the natural state of any society should be of chaos. And in trying to kill Avatar Korra – in order to break the Avatar cycle – they almost succeeded in putting the world into an extended age of chaos.

Although they didn’t succeed, the seeds of their organization are sure to have scattered far and wide. Don’t be surprised if the Red Lotus make another appearance in future Avatar franchise installments.

Closing Thoughts: White Lotus (Avatar)

The Order of the White Lotus is a beautiful, philosophical organization whose members are inspirational in their own, individual rights.

However, like all things in the Avatar franchise, the White Lotus was not a purely good organization. Like the Yin-Yang symbol that appears throughout the series, the White Lotus was merely one half of a dualistic coin.

Nevertheless, I for one hope that we learn more about the White Lotus in future Avatar literature!

Aang With Hair: The Best Pictures On The Internet

No doubt seeing Aang with hair was definitely a sight that caught most viewers by surprise, considering when we left him he was left for dead in the season 2 book two finale. In the season 2 finale, we see Aang in a keen showdown facing off Azula and Zuko.

The end result was a life-threatening and brutal injury.  Under normal circumstances, this would be the end, but with The Avatar, you know there’s always endless possibilities. With Katara’s healing abilities, Aang was able to recover; albeit slowly. In the time he takes to get back to his feet, we actually see a change in his appearance. What wakes up is Aang with hair. Aang grows out his hair and starts sporting a new outfit.

Up until this happens, what we are used to is Aang in his signature look: the bald head, distinctive arrow tattoos and that orange monk outfit. But for most of season three, we grow accustomed to the hair and robe, which now represent the new maturity of Aang. It is really a new chapter as Aang with hair gets a step closer to taking on the evil Fire Lord Ozai.

Surprisingly, Aang with hair makes a lot of sense when you get used to the idea. He pulls it off quite well. Here are some of the best pictures of Aang with hair on the internet.

Aang With Hair: Blushy Face

In this picture, we see a bashful Aang in full fire nation army regalia.

In this picture of Aang with hair, we see a bashful Aang already in Fire Nation Academy regalia. If all memory serves correctly, he looks this way because he has just seen Katara in her Fire Nation disguise as well. If ever his crush on his teammate was ever so obvious, this was definitely one of those moments.

Aang With Hair: The Awakening

In the first episode of the third season, the Book of Fire; titled The Awakening, a previously injured Aang wakes up to find himself on a Fire Nation Navy ship. No doubt he is completely left bewildered, because this would mean he has just been captured by his worst enemies. Luckily, he comes to the realisation that he is indeed on a Fire Nation Navy ship, but it is under the control of his friends and allies. That must have been completely relieving but there are more surprises in store for the Avatar.

He soon realises that a lot of time has passed, and with that a lot of change as well; Team Avatar has reunited with Chief Hakoda and the rest of the Water Nation Army and they are planning to attack the Fire Nation. Oh, there’s also the Aang with hair realisation. He surely didn’t see that coming.

Meditation Aang

Aang loves to meditate. It’s a monk thing, actually. To be honest, it’s the way he gets in touch with his inner self, and sometimes it is his passage into the spirit when he needs to clear his head or seek some much needed advice.

We have seen Aang meditate so many times in his usual regalia, but Aang with hair meditating adds a different touch to it. It’s like a new person has been found, but there is still a familiar feel. Whatever the case may be, one thing remains, Aang will always be in touch with his spirit self; with hair or not.

Bowing Aang With Hair

If there is anybody who is totally respectful of people’s cultures and beliefs, it’s Aang. He believes in the harmonification of all tribes; and why not; he is afterall, the Avatar. But we see this brought to the test when Team Avatar is behind enemy lines in the Fire Nation. Despite the evil that the war has done to the rest of the world, Aang with hair still shows the utmost respect to all those who he comes across.  He does not take it against them, but maintains his pacifist nature all-round.

Aang With Hair: Nightmares And Daydreams

This picture of Aang with hair comes from Avatar: The Last Airbender: Season 3, Episode 9; titled ‘Nightmares and Daydreams’. The plot synopsis reads:

“On the eve of the eclipse, Aang’s anxiety gets the better of him. His dreams become nightmares, and soon he can no longer tell dream from reality”

That’s why Aang looks so exhausted. He has been unable to sleep due to anxiety stemming from the incoming invasion slated for the day of the solar eclipse. As tired as he looks though; the fuzzy Aang with hair look compliments the storyline quite well, as we see him go through various hallucinations. We even get to see him in more than one do, proving that Aang with hair is a very versatile look.

Aang With Hair: “Kuzon” From Abigail Webster

Everyone remembers the name Aang took when he entered the Fire Nation; and that’s Kuzon. In this amazing fan art from Abigail Webster, we see Aang with hair, and a curious Momo on his shoulder. It’s a really detailed piece, and looks to depict Aang in his much older teen years, as opposed to what we see in the show and the tie-in comics.

Dreamy Eyed Aang With Hair

Need we say more really? Aang looks like a snack in this fan art, and there is just something about those blue eyes that sucks you in deep. No wonder Katara couldn’t stay away. No doubt anyone in her shoes would be easily carried away by this cute innocent look.

Excited Aang With Hair

Aang is clearly excited by something in this picture, and you can just tell that he’ll burst into a rush of energy the next moment. He usually has this look when he has just discovered something exotic or fun; and it is in these moments we realise that Aang is really just a kid with a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders. At his core he just wants to goof around.

Aang In The Awakening Fan Art

The Awakening was one of the darkest episodes of the Avatar series, considering it could have very well been the episode where Aang finally bit it. We see him go through a particular type of anguish; one similar to the same thing he felt when he realised he had been frozen for about a hundred years.

It is in this same episode that he finally puts the air glider to rest after it gets bashed in a storm he gets caught in. Right beside him is Momo of course, who always finds himself involved in these types of situations.

Goofy Aang

Rounding off our list is this funny picture of Aang with hair, obviously up to no good. But with Aang it is always good and clean fun; and nobody gets hurt. He really is a bundle of energy when he wants to be.

Tenzin (Avatar): His History and Legacy

Tenzin is the youngest child of the three children from Katara and Avatar Aang. He is also an Air bending master that lives on the Air Temple. He has two other siblings, Bumi and Kya. At this time, he is head of the makeshift Air Nation. A group of devout and stoic people that have dedicated their lives to preserving the legacy of the Air Nation. These people are known as the Air Acolytes. Tenzin has a wife named Pema and their four children: Jinora, Ikki, Meelo, and Rohan.

After harmonic convergence, when Air benders began to pop up all over the Earth kingdom, Tenzin and the Acolytes relocated to the Northern air temple to better accommodate the new changes that Harmonic convergence created.

Tenzin is serious, often referred to as too a serious man. He is also calm and a key figure in the Republic City. A city that was made for the unity of all bending nations.

Tenzin represented the Air Nation on the United Republic Council in Republic City before its dissolution. He was responsible for educating Avatar Korra in the ways of airbending and spirituality. Being the last airbending master and the son of the previous Avatar, he was the logical choice to guide Korra in the ways of becoming an Avatar even if he didn’t know much himself.

Tenzin’s History

Tenzin being the only Airbender that had been born in over a hundred years and was drilled extensively in the ways of air bending. He was taught the customs, traditions, and many guidelines of the Air Nomads. He eventually grew and earned the traditional air bending tattoos that symbolize being a realized bender. As kids, Tenzin would often be the object of bullying from his older brother and sister.

After the identity of the new Avatar (Avatar Korra) was revealed, Tenzin pulled resources and joined forces with the Southern Chief Sokka, Fire Lord Zuko, and Korra’s father, Tonraq. They did this to prevent a kidnapping threat that was posed by Zaheer, Ghazan, Ming-Hua, and P’Li. These people wanted to capture the Avatar in infancy and hone her to their will.

The alliance was able to defeat and apprehend the criminals and imprison them. They put these people in four separate and specially-designed prisons that would neutralize their combative abilities. Because of this threat, Tenzin and Tonraq decided to move Korra to the Southern Water Tribe compound, where she could safely train. They did this while keeping the information of what had happened away from her, supposedly for her own protection.

Teenage Years for Tenzin (Avatar

In his teenage years, Tenzin was friends with Lin Beifong, the daughter of Toph Beifong. Toph is known as the greatest Earth bender in the world and was able to create an alternative form of bending called Metal bending. She did this by harnessing the earth particles that are present in refined metal and bend them to her will. Lin was trained in the ways of Metal bending and took after her mother. She succeeded Toph as the chief of Republic city police.

Tenzin and she, at some point, were a couple. However, their romantic relationship did not last because Tenzin wanted children, and Lin did not.

As their relationship was slowly falling apart, Pema approached the Airbender and confessed her feelings for him. This caused Tenzin to break up with Lin and start a new relationship with Pema instead.

Tenzin and Pema eventually married, and by the time Korra had come to Republic City to learn airbending, their family consisted of three children: two daughters, Jinora and Ikki, a son named Meelo, and a fourth child on the way. He succeeded an Air Acolyte in being the representative of the Air Nation on the United Republic Council.

Helping The New Avatar

After Korra had completed training on all the other three elements, Tenzin began her airbending training. When it was time to begin, Tenzin became aware that it would be hard for her as it was her direct opposite. Mastery of the element Air required patience, calm, and cool-headedness as opposed to her hot-headed nature.

He told her that she needed to be patient, which was definitely the last thing she needed to hear. They both soon got frustrated as they would often clash for different reasons. One of these reasons was Korra’s inability to air bend and about how the teenage girl should spend her free time. Which apparently to Tenzin was more quiet and calmer ways such as meditation and other spiritually enlightening activities.

On one of her many disappearances, Korra witnessed something horrific. It was a man named Amon, taking away a man’s bending. After Korra returned from an Equalist rally and stated how Amon had succeeded in taking away someone’s bending ability, Tenzin stated that the revolution was more dangerous than ever.

Tenzin On The Council

As a council member, Tenzin tried his best to avoid anti-non bender measures to be taken, though he was unable to prevent Tarrlok from forming his task force to attack Amon head-on. Tarrlok later turned to be Amon’s brother. After Korra publicly challenged Amon to a duel, Tenzin tried to dissuade her, to no avail, and afterward offered her comfort when she cried in fear of Amon.

After this encounter, Tenzin and the rest of the United Republic Council were threatened by Amon to shut down the Pro-bending Arena or face “severe consequences.”

Despite Tenzin’s disapproval, the rest of the Council voted to keep the arena open, which proved to be a horrible decision as Amon and his Equalists blew up part of the arena in their attack. The Equalists are a group of people who believe that bending should be eradicated because it brings inequality. Their fight is to bring equality to all the nations by cleansing them of its taint, Bending.

With Lin and Korra’s help, Tenzin discovered that Hiroshi Sato had ties to the Equalists, though the ensuing confrontation nearly led to their capture.

When Korra was kidnapped, Tenzin set out to find her, together with Lin, Asami, Mako, and Bolin. After they discovered an Equalist hideout and rescued several captured Republic City Police officers, Tenzin realized that Tarrlok was the one who was holding Korra captive. They eventually found the Avatar as she was being carried through the city by Naga.

A host of events occurred during Tenzin’s time as the Avatar’s spiritual guide tutor.

Tenzin is a master Airbender, and even though he never succeeded in the aspect of spiritual development like his father, he is still one of the best air benders in the Avatar Universe.

Rebuilding The Air Nation

One of Tenzin’s biggest roles on the show was helping to rebuild the air nation. He was the son of Aang that could Air Bend and he ended up having kids that could as well. This made his family the last airbenders in the world.

The world naturally tried to find balance again and it started giving people the ability to airbend out of no where. He took it on as his duty to go out and try to rebuild the air nation. It was one of the most noble tasks he could take on because it allowed the world to see true balance once again.
