The Best Sokka Quotes
“You just love taking me out of my comfort zone, don’t you? “
This is one of the very first of the sassy remarks that Sokka made. This was made to Katara in the icy southern seas when they went fishing together.
It’s very obvious that the two siblings love each other but the writers of this show do very well to properly depict their sibling fights and bickering. Katara is the one who wants to go on this adventure with the Avatar. Sokka, not so much initially.
Katara, despite all the portrayal as being practical, is definitely the one who pushes Sokka outside of what he’s comfortable with. And in his defense, he’s not exactly comfortable with a lot of things. Sure, he says this to tease her at the start of the series, but it’s pretty much a premonition as he himself would come to figure out.
“Good inside him isn’t good enough. Why don’t you come back when it’s outside of him too?”
Sokka says this to Uncle Iroh as he pleads with team Avatar to be more accommodating of his nephew and says that he knows there’s good inside of him. Sokka retorts with this remark as Zuko at this point had done nothing but chase them all over the globe. Sokka, unconvinced that Zuko has any good in him despite Uncle Iroh’s plea.
Zuko would eventually redeem himself and join the team.
“This is the kind of wacky, time-wasting nonsense I’ve been missing.”
This statement was made after Zuko had joined them. He saw a poster that said a play about the boy in the iceberg was going to be made. This was going to be by the Ember Island Players. Zuko, frustrated, said that his mother used to take them to see the plays all the time and remarked that they were bad. Sokka, dismissing not going stated that this was the type of time-wasting nonsense he had been missing.
“My first girlfriend turned into the moon.”
This is a statement he made when he and Zuko were in a hot air balloon, in the boiling rock episode. He explained to Zuko that his first girlfriend turned into the moon. Zuko in turn pats him and tells him that this is rough. Come to think of it, this is not news to Zuko. He was there, trying to redeem his honor and whatnot.
“Look, I hate to be the wet blanket here, but since Katara’s busy, I guess it’s up to me.”
This is a slide sarcastic remark he made that stated indirectly that Katara is the wet blanket in their group of three. Sokka knows where he stands in his group of friends and he knows that he’s not really the one in charge. More often than not, it’s Katara calling the shots as the more responsible adult.

What’s funny about this quote is the exaggeration in it. This line is an example that Sokka jumps to the most ridiculous of conclusions through the weirdest of ways. Plenty of members of their party have gone missing in the past and it’s never been suggested that Appa would eat one of them. The expression he had at that point also made it a memorable quote.
“You know, it was really unclear.”
This is a reference to the part in which Jet supposedly died in the play that was performed by Ember Island Players. He replied, saying it was really unclear.
